Submissions

We want you to soar!

We’re not looking for those writers with impressive bios and long publication lists — they’re experienced flyers. Maybe you’re a new writer, just starting out on your journey. Maybe you’ve been circling, searching for a warm place to land. Or maybe you’re still darting after that first, tasty writing credit.

We’ve got you.

Guidelines

  • Send us poetry and micro-fiction; for poetry, we especially love non-rhyming free verse and experimental, but we can’t resist a good sonnet. If we had to pick our favourite poet, it would be e.e. cummings. Give us all the feels.
  • Preferred themes: yearning, romance, nostalgia, memory, and place. We lean towards the positive.
  • Art is welcome, either as part of your submission, or by itself. Bonus points if it’s bird-related.
  • Absolutely no AI-generated work, in whole or in part. Trust in your talent. We want the authentic YOU.
  • Work should be previously unpublished, including on personal blogs and social media.
  • Maximum 1 page (8 1/2 x 11”), ideally Word doc format, Times New Roman font, size 12. If your work requires special formatting that might move around when sending a Word document, a PDF is just fine.
  • Please, no politics, graphic/explicit content, or hate speech. Be a kind human.
  • DO NOT SEND A TRADITIONAL BIO; it won’t be reviewed or included with your work if accepted for publication. Instead, tell us about your delulu writer dreams. Or your favourite bird. Or both. Or just a little bit about yourself as a person. DO INCLUDE WEBSITE/SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES. If you have a photo of yourself, feel free to include that too. Remember, we’re focused on new and emerging writers.
  • International submissions welcome, but if you’re Canadian, please let us know — we would like to nurture and promote fellow Canadian writers as much as possible.
  • Email your submission to andorinhapress AT gmail.com with the subject heading: “Submission – [Last Name]”
  • If you have any questions, or if we missed something, please reach out! We’re friendly here.

There is no fee to submit, and no payment for accepted work — just the warm, fuzzy feeling of being published on our website. We’ll also be your cheerleader on our social media accounts (Instagram and Threads).

You’ll keep all copyright to your writing. If your work is republished later by some other magazine, etc., congratulations! We just ask that you credit us: “First appeared in Andorinha Press” (or a similar statement). And if you’re one of those outfits wanting to republish work that first appeared here, please be cool and don’t reproduce it without getting the writer’s permission first.
